Bodies

This is an old sketch that I have decided to turn into a 3D artwork. I have made the sketch somewhat subconsciously, drawing abstract objects with little attention, only to realize after I was done that the objects are figures (see the sketch below).

After finalizing the image I realized it depicts 3 abstracted human figures: two parents and a fetus. One of the parents seemed to be folded, gathered within his/herself, but the other one is stronger and more present. The fetus is growing in the middle. Gender properties are blurred. It is an abstract manifestation of a family, with everything it comes. The abstract shapes can make us experience the drama even more so than realistic figures, as they contain only what’s important. It is a testimony for abstraction, for the world within, not to the one we see but to the one we feel.
