A bit down the road with this one I realized that I wanted the water not to reflect the actual scene but the scene minus the cubes, i.e. the woman alone. After thinking for a while I realized how I can achieve this. I ended up rendering everything without the cubes and taking the resulting video to serve as the texture of the water. So the water is not really reflecting the scene, it's a projected video.
